Nova Scotia Liberals and PCs Remain Tied

Our latest UltraPoll release turns its focus to Nova Scotia, where the governing Liberals and opposition Progressive Conservatives remain in a statistical tie, as they have been for months.

The survey also found the Nova Scotia NDP posting significant gains again, continuing an upward trend since August.

The poll surveyed 603 Nova Scotians between January 15th to 17th, and has a margin of error of +/- 3.95% and is accurate 19 times out of 20.

Among decided and leaning voters, the governing Liberals led by Stephen McNeil have 32.1% (-0.6%), while the Progressive Conservatives with Tim Houston as leader have 31% (-2.2%). The NDP led by Gary Burrill are at 25.2% (+4.5%), while the Greens under the helm of Thomas Trappenburg are at 8.1% (-0.8%).

The PCs lead among men while the Liberals lead among women. The NDP maintain their lead among 18-34s, and the PCs and the Liberals are in a statistical tie among voters aged 35 to 49. The PCs lead in the 50 to 64 age cohort, while the Liberals lead among voters aged 65 and over.

When looking at geographic divisions, the Liberals and the NDP are effectively tied in Halifax, while the PCs lead in Cape Breton and in the rest of the province.
