1 August 2018 (Ottawa, ON) – Stephen McNeil and the Liberals have a slender lead over the Progressive Conservatives.

Those are the findings from Mainstreet Research’s latest UltraPoll, a conglomeration of ten provincial polls. The poll surveyed 805 Nova Scotia residents between July 15th to 17th. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.45% and is accurate 19 times out of 20.

“Things have tightened up slightly on the Nova Scotia scene since we last polled in April,” said Quito Maggi, President and CEO of Mainstreet Research. “The Liberals still maintain their lead but they have lost a support to the NDP, while PCs remain stable”.

Among decided and leaning voters, the Liberals currently have 36.7% support (-3.5% from Mainstreeet’s previous poll in April), while the PCs with Karla MacFarlane at the helm come in with 33.8% support (-0.9%). The NDP led by Gary Burrill currently enjoy 22.9% (+5.6%), while the Greens with Thomas Trappenberg have 5% (-0.6%).

The Liberals lead the PCs among both women and men, and also lead among respondents of every age cohort except those between the ages of 35 and 49, where the PCs lead the Liberals by nearly 14 points.

In terms of the various regions of Nova Scotia, the PCs lead the Liberals by almost four points in Cape Breton, while the Liberals lead the PCs nearly eight points in Halifax. Both parties are in a statistical tie in the rest of Nova Scotia.
