PEI Liberals Lead With the Greens Following Closely

30 December 2019 (Ottawa, ON) – The governing PEI Liberals maintain their lead over the second-placed Greens.

Those are the findings from Mainstreet Research’s latest UltraPoll, a conglomeration of ten provincial polls. The poll surveyed 731 Prince Edward Islanders between January 15th to 18th. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.62% and is accurate 19 times out of 20.

“The McLauchlan Liberals have widened their lead since November,” said Quito Maggi, President and CEO of Mainstreet Research. “This is just the position the Liberals would want to be in given that there will be a provincial election in Prince Edward Island later this year.”

Among decided and leaning voters, the Liberals led by Wade MacLauchlan have 35.2% support (+1.8% since November), while the Greens led by Peter Bevan-Baker have 30.8% (+1.1%). The Progressive Conservatives, remain in third with 29.6% (+1.3%). The NDP with Joe Byrne at the helm have 2.7% (-4%).

The Liberals lead overwhelmingly among men, while the Greens have a more than six point lead over both the PCs and the Liberals amogn women.
Among the age groups, the Liberals have leads among all age cohorts, except for voters aged 35-49 where they are in third and behind the Greens.

In terms of regional breakouts, the Greens lead the Liberals by just under eight points, while the Liberals have nearly a nine point lead over the Greens in the rest of the province.
