Manitobans Confident About Bombers

September 19, (Ottawa, ON) – A new Mainstreet/Postmedia poll conducted for the Winnipeg Sun finds Manitobans are optimistic about bring home the Grey Cup. The Mainstreet/Postmedia Poll has a margin of error of +/- 1.96%, 19 times out of 20.

72% of Manitobans believe the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will win the Grey Cup this year – the Bombers are currently on an 7 game winning streak having recently defeated the Toronto Argonauts.

“It’s not hard to see why Manitobans are bullish about the Bombers,” said Quito Maggi, President of Mainstreet Research. “They are on a winning streak and look like a contender to take home the Grey Cup this year.”

Manitobans were less optimistic when asked about the Winnipeg Jets. 65% believe the Jets will make the playoffs this year with 23% saying they won’t. In comparison, only 14% of Manitobans said the Bombers wouldn’t bring home the Grey Cup.

“Manitobans are less confident about the Winnipeg Jets but 65% is a strong majority regardless,” continued Maggi. “It looks like Manitobans expect big things from their sports teams this year – let’s hope they don’t disappoint.
